Background and Aim: Craniofacial teratomas are exceedingly rare congenital tumors, typically presenting at birth with variable degrees of facial distortion and airway compromise.
Case Presentation: We report a rare case of a 2-day-old female neonate with a massive craniofacial teratoma affecting her left facial region, accompanied by a cleft palate and feeding difficulties. Computed tomography (CT) imaging revealed a large heterogeneous mass with destructive extension into the orbit, maxilla, mandible, and anterior and middle cranial fossae. Complete surgical excision was achieved via the Weber-Ferguson approach, and histopathological evaluation confirmed a mature teratoma.
Conclusion: This case report highlights the importance of early imaging and prompt surgical intervention in managing large craniofacial teratomas. Despite the rarity of such cases, multidisciplinary planning is essential to achieve optimal functional and cosmetic outcomes.
